Tour of Bright Teams System

How It Works

What is the Teams Category?

โš ๏ธ IMPORTANT: You must have already entered the Tour of Bright via EntryBoss before entering a team. Team entries without an Event Entry will be rejected.

The Teams Category celebrates teamwork across the Tour of Bright. It's not just about the strongest individual โ€” it's about the squad that works together for the lowest combined score.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ
Team Structure

Teams in the Tour of Bright can be formed in two ways:

Grade Teams

  • All riders must be in the same grade category
  • Perfect for club groups and friends in the same category
  • Minimum 3, maximum 6 riders per team

Open Teams

  • Any mix of riders, grades, or genders
  • Great for your group bunchie riders, your training partners, and friends
  • Minimum 3, maximum 6 riders per team

Note: In both team types, each rider competes in their own grade as normal. Your team score is calculated across all your riders regardless of which grades they compete in.

๐Ÿ†
Points System

The Teams Category uses a simple points system where lower scores are better:

  • Every rider earns points equal to their finishing place in their grade
  • Points are grade-relative โ€“ finishing positions in any grade count the same
  • Team score per stage = the average of all your team riders' results
  • The team with the lowest total score wins the stage and overall classification
Example:
Rider 1: 5th in Men's A = 5 points
Rider 2: 3rd in Women's A = 3 points
Rider 3: 12th in Men's B = 12 points
Rider 4: 8th in Men's C = 8 points

Team Score: (5 + 3 + 12 + 8) รท 4 = 7.00 points
(Average of all team riders' results)

Team standings are announced at the Saturday night presentations after Stages 1 & 2, and final results are announced after Stage 3 on Sunday.

Registration Process
  1. Create a Team โ€“ A team leader registers a new team and receives a unique Team Code
  2. Invite Riders โ€“ Share the Team Code with teammates so they can join online
  3. Commit the Team โ€“ Once the roster is ready (3-6 riders), the team leader finalizes the entry

Important: Write down your Team Code immediately! If you lose it, your riders cannot join your team. If the code is lost, contact comms@5ringsprotocol.com for assistance.

๐Ÿ”’
Committing Your Team

Once your team has at least 3 riders (and no more than 6), the team leader can commit the team to finalize registration:

  1. Go to the Team Area page
  2. Enter your team code (the code you received when creating the team)
  3. Verify your identity by entering your AusCycling license number (only the team leader can commit the team)
  4. Click the "Commit Team" button to finalize your team registration

Important: Only the team leader (the person who created the team) can commit the team. The team leader will need to verify their identity using their AusCycling license number.

Once committed, your team will appear on the Public Roster and cannot be modified.

Team Commitment Tips

  • Make sure all your riders have joined before committing
  • Double-check that all rider information is correct
  • Ensure you have between 3-6 riders on your team
  • Keep your team code handy - you'll need it to access your team area

Eligibility & Rules
  • All team members must have a valid Tour of Bright entry through EntryBoss
  • Teams must have a minimum of 3 riders and a maximum of 6 riders
  • Once committed, team rosters are final โ€“ no changes will be accepted
  • To be eligible for the Teams Classification, a minimum of 3 riders from your team must complete all stages

The Teams Category is designed to enhance the Tour of Bright experience by adding a team dimension to what is traditionally an individual event. It encourages teamwork, strategy, and camaraderie across all grades.
